Terms of Service
Myaccountant Technology Pty Ltd (ABN 81 610 976 719)
Last updated: 23 April 2026
In plain terms
These terms are the agreement between you and myaccountant when you use our platform. We have written them in plain English where we can. The key points:
- You agree to these terms when you sign up. If you do not accept them, you cannot use the platform.
- You pay for your subscription in advance. You can cancel at any time. Cancellation stops future billing but does not refund the period you have already paid for.
- We will do our best to keep the platform running and accurate. We cannot guarantee it will be available every moment, and we are not a substitute for professional tax, legal, or financial advice.
- Some things cannot be limited by these terms. Australian Consumer Law provides you with consumer guarantees that we cannot exclude, and nothing in these terms overrides those rights.
- If there is a dispute, we want to try to resolve it with you directly first. If we cannot, Victorian courts have jurisdiction.
The detailed version is below. If you have questions, email support@myaccountant.com.au .
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
These terms are a contract between you and Myaccountant Technology Pty Ltd (ABN 81 610 976 719), an Australian company. In these terms, "myaccountant," "we," "us," or "our" means Myaccountant Technology Pty Ltd.
"You" means the person or business using the platform. If you are using the platform on behalf of a business or other organisation, "you" means both you personally and the organisation you represent, and you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation to these terms.
These terms cover your use of the myaccountant platform, including our website, mobile applications, and related services (which we call "the platform").
2. Your account
2.1 Signing up
To use the platform, you need to create an account. When you sign up, you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years old (or are using the platform as an employee invited by an employer account, in which case different terms apply as described in Section 2.5).
- The information you provide is true, accurate, and complete.
- You will keep your account information up to date.
2.2 Keeping your account secure
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You must not share your password, and you should enable two-factor authentication.
If you suspect your account has been accessed by someone who should not have access, you must tell us immediately by emailing support@myaccountant.com.au . We are not responsible for losses that arise from you failing to keep your credentials secure or failing to notify us of a suspected breach.
2.3 Your responsibility for what happens in your account
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, including activity by any team members or accountants you invite.
2.4 Team members and accountants
If you invite team members, accountants, or other users into your account, you are responsible for:
- Setting appropriate permissions
- Ensuring those users understand and comply with these terms
- Removing access when users should no longer have it
2.5 Employees invited by employer accounts
If you have been invited to the platform by an employer to access payslips, tax declarations, or other employee-facing features, your use is covered by a separate, simpler set of terms presented at the time of your invitation. You are not required to have a paid subscription to access features made available to you through your employer's account.
3. Using the platform
3.1 What we grant you
Subject to these terms and your ongoing subscription payments, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the platform for your own business or personal financial management.
3.2 What you must not do
You must not use the platform to:
- Break Australian or other applicable laws
- Submit false, fraudulent, or misleading information to the ATO or any other regulator through the platform
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, other users' accounts, or any part of the platform you are not authorised to access
- Interfere with the platform's operation, security, or integrity
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the platform, except to the extent permitted by law
- Use the platform to transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful code
- Use the platform to send spam or other unsolicited communications
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially redistribute the platform to third parties without our written permission
3.3 Suspension for breach
If you breach these terms, we may suspend or terminate your account. Where possible, we will give you notice and an opportunity to fix the breach before taking action. For serious breaches (such as fraud or security violations), we may act without notice.
4. Subscription, payment, and cancellation
4.1 Subscription plans
The platform is offered on a subscription basis. Our current plans and prices are published at myaccountant.com.au/pricing . Prices are in Australian dollars and are GST-inclusive.
4.2 Billing
Subscriptions are billed in advance. Monthly plans are billed each month on the anniversary of your sign-up. Annual plans are billed each year on the anniversary of your sign-up.
4.3 Payment methods
You authorise us to charge the payment method you provide for all subscription fees and any additional usage fees you incur. If a payment fails, we will notify you and give you a reasonable opportunity to update your payment method before suspending your account.
4.4 Price changes
We may change our subscription prices. If we change the price of a plan you are on, we will notify you at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The new price will apply to your next billing cycle after that notice period. If you do not accept the new price, you can cancel your subscription.
4.5 Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting support@myaccountant.com.au .
Cancellation stops future billing. It does not entitle you to a refund for the current billing period. You retain access to the platform until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. After that, your account becomes inactive.
4.6 No refunds
Except where required by Australian Consumer Law, we do not offer refunds. This includes:
- Partial-month refunds for mid-cycle cancellations
- Refunds for periods of non-use of an active subscription
- Refunds where you change your mind
Where Australian Consumer Law provides you with a right to a remedy (for example, where the platform fails to meet a consumer guarantee), that right is not affected by this section.
4.7 Data export after cancellation
After cancellation, we retain your data for a period to allow for reactivation if you change your mind. During this period, you can export your data through the platform or by emailing support@myaccountant.com.au . After the retention period, your data is deleted subject to the exceptions described in our Privacy Policy (for example, backups and legal retention obligations).
5. Your data and our data
5.1 Your data stays yours
You own the data you upload to or create on the platform. This includes your financial records, documents, invoices, and any other content you submit.
By using the platform, you grant us a licence to use your data only for the purposes of operating the platform for you , processing it, storing it, backing it up, and providing you with the features you use.
5.2 Our platform stays ours
The platform itself, the software, the design, the documentation, the branding, and anything else we create, is owned by us (or our licensors). Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership of the platform to you.
5.3 How we use your data
Our use of your data is governed by our Privacy Policy, available at myaccountant.com.au/privacy . By agreeing to these terms, you also agree to our Privacy Policy.
5.4 Feedback
If you send us suggestions, feedback, or ideas about the platform, we can use them freely without compensating you, subject to our Privacy Policy's treatment of any personal information in that feedback.
6. Third-party services
6.1 Services we integrate with
The platform integrates with third-party services, including but not limited to:
- Bank feed providers (to connect your bank accounts)
- The Australian Taxation Office (for STP, BAS, and other lodgements)
- Payment processors
- AI processing services (as described in our Privacy Policy)
- Accounting platforms (for posting journal entries, where you use this feature)
- Time and attendance platforms (for timesheet imports, where you use this feature)
6.2 Third-party terms
When you use a feature that integrates with a third-party service, your use of that service may be subject to the third party's own terms. We are not responsible for the acts, omissions, or content of third parties. Where a third party's service fails, causes a delay, or behaves unexpectedly, our ability to remedy that is limited by our relationship with that third party.
6.3 Service availability
If a third-party service becomes unavailable (for example, a bank feed disconnection or an ATO system outage), the related feature of the platform may be temporarily unavailable. We will do our reasonable best to restore service promptly, but we cannot guarantee availability of third-party services.
7. What the platform does, and what it does not do
7.1 What we do
We provide software that helps you keep your books, process payroll, manage properties, track personal finances, and meet Australian compliance obligations. We provide features that automate parts of these tasks, including AI-powered features that make suggestions.
7.2 What we are not
We are not your accountant. The platform is a tool to help you manage your own financial affairs. We are not registered tax agents, and we do not provide tax agent services as defined under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009.
We are not a financial adviser. Nothing on the platform constitutes financial product advice, taxation advice, or legal advice. You should seek independent professional advice for your specific circumstances.
We are not a bank or a payment service provider. We do not hold your money. Super contributions are processed through the regulated national super network, and subscription payments are processed through our payment processor.
7.3 Your compliance obligations remain yours
The platform helps you meet your Australian tax, super, and reporting obligations, but your compliance obligations remain your own. You are responsible for ensuring the information you submit through the platform to the ATO or other regulators is accurate and timely.
7.4 AI suggestions are suggestions
Where the platform makes AI-powered suggestions, category suggestions, deduction scanning, document extraction, these are suggestions for your review. You remain responsible for confirming that the final output in your books is correct.
8. Platform availability, changes, and support
8.1 Availability
We aim to keep the platform available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The platform may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, third-party outages, or other causes. Where we plan scheduled maintenance, we will give reasonable advance notice where practical.
8.2 Changes to the platform
We may change the features and functions of the platform over time. Where we make a change that materially reduces the functionality of a feature you use, we will give reasonable notice. We do not guarantee that any specific feature will remain available indefinitely.
8.3 Support
We provide support through our help documentation and through email at support@myaccountant.com.au . We aim to respond to support queries within a reasonable time, but we do not guarantee specific response times.
9. Limitation of liability
9.1 What this section does
This section limits our liability to you. It has been drafted with Australian Consumer Law in mind, and nothing in this section is intended to exclude or limit any right you have under the ACL that cannot be excluded or limited.
9.2 Consumer guarantees
Where you use the platform as a consumer (as defined under the ACL), you have consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded. These guarantees include that the platform will be provided with due care and skill, and will be reasonably fit for its purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits those rights.
9.3 Where consumer guarantees do not apply
To the extent permitted by law, for use that is not subject to ACL consumer guarantees (for example, where you use the platform for a business purpose for which the consumer guarantees do not apply), we exclude all other warranties, representations, and conditions, whether express or implied, whether by statute, common law, or otherwise.
9.4 Our liability cap
Where we are liable to you for any loss, damage, or claim arising out of or in connection with the platform or these terms, our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that 12-month period.
9.5 Consequential losses
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses, including loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of data, loss of reputation, or loss of opportunity.
9.6 What we are responsible for regardless
This section does not limit our liability for:
- Fraud or wilful misconduct by us
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under Australian law
10. Indemnity
You agree to cover our reasonable costs (including legal costs) if a third party makes a claim against us that arises from:
- Your breach of these terms
- Your use of the platform in a way that breaks the law
- Your submission of false or misleading information through the platform
- Content you upload or share through the platform that infringes another person's rights
This indemnity does not apply to the extent the claim arises from our own breach of these terms or our own negligence.
11. Termination
11.1 Termination by you
You can cancel your subscription at any time as described in Section 4.5.
11.2 Termination by us
We can terminate your account:
- For material breach: if you breach these terms and do not fix the breach within a reasonable period after we notify you.
- For non-payment: if your payment method fails and you do not update it after we notify you.
- For security or legal reasons: immediately, if we reasonably believe your account presents a security risk, is being used for fraud or unlawful activity, or we are required by law to terminate the account.
- For convenience: with 30 days' notice, in which case we will pro-rata refund any prepaid subscription fees for the period after termination.
11.3 Effect of termination
When your account ends, your access to the platform ends. We will retain your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Section 4.7 of these terms.
11.4 Sections that survive
The following sections survive termination: Section 5 (Your data and our data), Section 9 (Limitation of liability), Section 10 (Indemnity), Section 12 (Dispute resolution), and any other section that by its nature should survive.
12. Dispute resolution
12.1 Talk to us first
If you have a problem with the platform or these terms, please contact us at support@myaccountant.com.au before taking any formal action. We will do our best to resolve the issue with you directly.
12.2 Formal complaints
If we cannot resolve the issue through support, you can escalate to legal@myaccountant.com.au with a written description of the dispute. We will respond substantively within 30 days.
12.3 Courts
If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, the courts of Victoria, Australia, have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to your rights under Australian Consumer Law to pursue remedies in other forums (for example, through a state-based consumer protection agency).
12.4 Regulatory complaints
Nothing in these terms prevents you from making a complaint to a regulator such as the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (for privacy matters), the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (for consumer law matters), or any other body with jurisdiction over the subject of the dispute.
13. General
13.1 Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
13.2 Entire agreement
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other terms we specifically incorporate, make up the entire agreement between you and us about your use of the platform. They supersede any previous agreements or representations.
13.3 Assignment
You cannot assign your rights or obligations under these terms without our written consent. We can assign our rights and obligations, for example in connection with a sale of our business, on notice to you.
13.4 Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
13.5 No waiver
If we do not enforce a right under these terms on one occasion, it does not mean we waive that right for future occasions.
13.6 Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect. By continuing to use the platform after the changes take effect, you agree to the updated terms. If you do not accept the changes, you can cancel your subscription as described in Section 4.5.
